9/1
Useful handicap hurdler who resumed winning ways at Kelso (20.8f) in February and backed that up when second in Morebattle hurdle back at that venue in March. Below bets thereafter but given a short break ahead of this switch to chasing.

10/3
Prolific winner as a novice over hurdles and some good efforts in handicaps last term. Didn't always convince with jumping in that sphere but had little trouble (jumped fluently in main) in landing 2-runner novice chase at Kempton (20.5f) in May. Can do better now handicapping.

13/8
Fairly useful winning hurdler who left chase debut effort in his wake when running out a convincing winner of a 2m novice here 25 days ago, jumping soundly. More to come now handicapping back up in trip.

5/1
Shaped well on numerous occasions over hurdles and off the mark at first attempt over fences from 6 lb lower mark at Huntingdon (16.5f) in May. Never threatened when third of 4 at Cartmel subsequently but likely he can do better still in this sphere.

25/1
Fair hurdler who showed aptitude for chasing when fifth of 9 in a Down Royal maiden (19.7f) but proved to be a disappointment when pulled up at Limerick (22.7f) late on last month. This looks a tough enough introduction to handicaps.

4/1
Hurdles winner who has made a bright start over fences, landing 4-runner novices' handicap at Cartmel (17.3f) in May and followed up with minimum fuss in a Hexham novice (20f) 3 weeks ago. This his toughest ask yet but highly likely there's more to come.

Forecasts

Ash Tree Meadow (13/8), Stoner's Choice (10/3), Saint Arvans (4/1), Grisbi De Berce (5/1), Saint D'Oroux (9/1), Pat's Pick (25/1)

Verdict

This represents SAINT ARVANS toughest assignment to date over fences but he's impressed in landing back-to-back handicap/novice events in recent weeks and could well be worth siding with to continue the good work again partnered by Brian Hughes. Ash Tree Meadow, who impressed when off the mark at the second attempt over 2m here recently, is the chief threat, ahead of Stoner's Choice.
