Runner-up in an Irish bumper but little to shout abut other than that, never dangerous in a maiden hurdle fitted with a tongue tie 3 weeks ago. British debut.

Strong in the betting and found only one too good in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in April. Didn't seem to stay 19.6f ridden from the front last time and that is a worry over this trip, but he is the form pick.

Out of his depth in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Naas on debut for John Joseph Hanlon in February. Second (albeit a distant one) to a stablemate in a 17.2f novice here 3 weeks ago and now up markedly in trip.

Some promise in bumpers and having unseated rider on hurdles debut, he got back on track when third at Hexham last month (23f). Wasn't in the same form over C&D last time but his stamina is at least assured.

Closely related to a point winner. Dam, 2m hurdle winner, half-sister to modest hurdler/useful chaser Bonus Bridge. Too free to show much in a Kelso bumper for Rose Dobbin in April 2021. Since finished runner-up between the flags and hooded back under Rules.

Regressive form in bumpers in 2020/21 for Nick Gifford. Bred to do better over obstacles and he won a point for new connections last month.

Stuck to his task when third of 11 at Tramore over 16.6f 3 weeks ago. Shapes like a stayer and is in very good hands so he commands respect.

Bumper winner on debut in December and backed it up with a good second at Hereford. Below form in listed event at Cheltenham on final start for Jonathan Portman but pleasing start for new yard at Perth. Up in trip now hurdling.

Forecasts

Ballyquin Bay (11/8), Free Handshake (13/8), Nechako (13/2), Our Sam (12/1), Mr Sundancer (16/1), Wee Rupert (28/1), Karapirogirl (33/1), Copper Point (50/1), Watch Law (66/1)

Verdict

BALLYQUIN BAY hasn't achieved as much as Free Handshake so far but he seems far more likely of the pair to relish this trip, so Gordon Elliott's charge is awarded the vote. Mr Sundancer's bumper form makes him of interest, with Wee Rupert also considered having won a point.
