Huntingdon Annual Badge Holders Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 13:35 | Winning time: 3m 47.49s

Galahad Threepwood¹⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Kielan Woods| T: B Pauling| OR: 108| BF

5/4

Fairly useful on the Flat for Mick Channon and definite encouragement to glean from his respective yard/hurdles debut third in a Newcastle novice (16.2f). Failed to build on that at Warwick next time but still early days.

Form: 3-2

Samos Island¹⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: Stan Sheppard| T: M Sheppard

22/1

Poor maiden hurdler who struggled back in a bumper last month. Has left W. J. Burke.

Form: 52P-622

Shuil Donn^h¹⁵⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland

6/1

Shaped well when second in a bumper at Cork last spring for Niall Hennessy. Hasn't matched that form since for this yard but he may yet come good. Makes hurdles debut.

Form: 2/940-

The Bandit^t1³¹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-4| J: J M Quinlan| T: N B King

28/1

Fair in bumpers but ran below that level on Fakenham hurdles debut last month. Tongue strap on for 1st time.

Form: 8/37-3

Tigrubee⁶⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 11-4| J: C Gethings| T: P R Webber

100/1

Tiger Groom gelding. Dam, unplaced sole start over hurdles, half-sister to fairly useful 19f hurdle winner Crackentorp. Third completed start in points, unseated rider latest (Mar 27).

Form: 3RU-

Balearic²⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 10-13| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill

7/2

Fairly useful on Flat who offered plenty to work on when third on hurdle/yard debut at Sedgefield on return. Needs considering.

Form: 3

Pure Bubbles^p¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 10-13| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR: 104| BF

16/5

Went the wrong way on the Flat but shaped with promise in this sphere when fourth at Plumpton and duly built on that when second at Fakenham. Cheekpieces re-fitted. Form choice.

Form: 42

Kingston Sunflower^h1¹⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 10-11| J: Liam Harrison⁽³⁾| T: F O'Brien

50/1

Fair maiden at best on Flat in France. Far too headstrong tried over hurdles at Southwell on debut for this yard 16 days ago. Hooded for 1st time.

Form: P

Laetoli¹⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 10-6| J: M Goldstein| T: Miss S West

150/1

Poor maiden on Flat, stays 1¾m, well held on stable debut last time. Makes hurdle debut.

Form:

Forecasts

Galahad Threepwood (5/4), Pure Bubbles (16/5), Balearic (7/2), Shuil Donn (6/1), Samos Island (22/1), The Bandit (28/1), Kingston Sunflower (50/1), Tigrubee (100/1), Laetoli (150/1)

PURE BUBBLES seems to be taking to hurdling and can put his extra experience to good use up against likely main danger Balearic, who made an encouraging debut in this sphere at Warwick. Galahad Threepwood is another who should be in the mix.
