White Lion At Weston Novices' Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 19:25 | Winning time: 5m 38.30s

Tango Echo Charlie³⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 12-0| J: Charlie Hammond| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 103

9/2

Failed to make an impact when returning from 17 months off at Stratford (18.7f, good to soft) in April, but he's been given a chance by the handicapper and better can be expected here with that run under his belt.

Cossack Dancer^p1,t³¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-10| J: Finn Lambert⁽⁷⁾| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 99| BF

8/1

Immediately improved for the switch to handicaps when second at Perth last spring. However, well held both starts since, including on debut for this yard back from a break/second wind op at Southwell last month. Cheekpieces added.

Form: 3562/09-

Young O'Leary⁷²

Age: 8| Weight: 11-9| J: David Prichard⁽⁵⁾| T: Tim Vaughan| OR: 98

11/2

Has failed to fire over fences on his last three starts (tried in cheekpieces last time), but he found just one too good off an 8 lb higher mark on his latest run over hurdles at Taunton in November. Needs considering.

Form: 15/2357-

Lifeisahighway^t³⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 11-5| J: Kielan Woods| T: B Pauling| OR: 94

4/1

Successful between the flags in 2019 and went close in a Southwell handicap hurdle off a higher mark than this last spring. Well below par on his last three starts, but will be a danger to all if able to bounce back.

Form: 2/42P76-

Eightytwo Team³³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-1| J: T J O'Brien| T: C Ellam| OR: 90

25/1

Exposed as a poor maiden in this sphere and best watched on debut for new yard.

Form: 273979-

Barnie Beetle¹⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 10-13| J: Alan Doyle⁽⁷⁾| T: J Mackie| OR: 88

33/1

Pulled up both starfts for Oliver Greenall, but there were signs of ability on show starting out for new yard in a 2m maiden hurdle here last month. Worth a second look in the betting upped in trip for this handicap debut.

Form: PP-7

Cheer's Delboy^p⁴²

Age: 9| Weight: 10-3| J: Tabitha Worsley⁽³⁾| T: H Dickin| OR: 78

5/2

Placed on two of his last three starts, including at Chepstow (19.4f, good) back from a break last month. 1 lb lower now and shouldn't be far away, but he's now 0-14 over hurdles and 0-18 overall under Rules.

Form: 8PU383-

Sir Jim²²

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: Thomas Willmott⁽³⁾| T: Ruth Jefferson| OR: 77

6/1

Yet to make an impact from four starts over hurdles, with no improvement forthcoming on handicap debut at Southwell last month.

Form: 86/5880-

Forecasts

Cheer's Delboy (5/2), Lifeisahighway (4/1), Tango Echo Charlie (9/2), Young O'Leary (11/2), Sir Jim (6/1), Cossack Dancer (8/1), Eightytwo Team (25/1), Barnie Beetle (33/1)

Question marks surround most of these for one reason or another. YOUNG O'LEARY is no exception following a string of inauspicious displays over fences, but he is worth chancing back in this sphere off a potentially handy mark. Tango Echo Charlie and Lifeisahighway also appeal from a handicapping perspective and they are feared most in that order of preference.
