4/5

Lightly-raced winner. Course winner. Two wins from 3 runs last year. 5/1, twelfth of 13 in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good to soft). Off 6 months and may well get back on track returned to a faster surface.

Form: 34/110-

10/1

Latest win at Newcastle in January. 40/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 11 days ago. Looks vulnerable for win purposes.

Goddess Of Fire^p⁷^{(ex 5)}

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: Laura Pearson⁽³⁾| T: J Ryan| OR: 75| CD

10/3

12/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 7 days ago, having run of race. That was her third C&D success and she should give it a good shot under a penalty.

Form: 43225-1

Magnetised¹⁹⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 8-7| J: Callum Shepherd| T: D M Simcock| OR: 71| D

10/1

Unreliable type. 6/1, 9 lengths last of 10 to Goddess of Fire in handicap at this C&D (good to soft) when last seen in October. Rather in-and-out, but will have a chance if he puts his best foot forward.

Form: 470150-

Forecasts

Bake (4/5), Goddess Of Fire (10/3), Percy's Lad (13/2), Star Shield (10/1), Magnetised (10/1)

The vote goes to BAKE, who was progressive prior to misfiring on his final start of last season at Haydock where conditions were probably against him. Back on better ground and with William Buick in the hot-seat, the 4-y-o is taken to get back on track. Goddess of Fire's C&D reappearance success served as a reminder that she is dangerous when allowed a soft lead and John Ryan's charge should give another good account. Magnetised is best of the remaining trio.
