Displayed clear signs of ability in 2 bumpers/3 novice hurdles but proved a disappointment on handicap bow at Fontwell 6 weeks ago. Up in trip again.

Encouraging signs initially for this yard, particularly when a close second in a 6-runner Hexham maiden in December. Offered little in a brace of handicaps next 2 starts but step back in right direction in this headgear when fifth at Kelso, nearest at the finish. Of interest back up in trip.

Fell early at Kelso over Christmas but plenty of promise previously and fair chance he's on a good mark. Again let down by jumping on handicap bow at Wetherby since but worth another chance with headgear fitted back from a break.

Improved for the switch to handicaps, runner-up all 4 starts, including when just denied over this C&D latest. Needs considering.

Long-standing maiden but he's pretty consistent at his sort of level, finding only one too good in re-fitted cheekpieces at Musselburgh. Pulled too hard next time, though, and stamina to prove up in trip.

Opened account in 23f Hexham handicap in October before very good second there next time. Not disgraced after 3 months off when fifth at Newcastle and entitled to come on for that.

Still a maiden, but appears to be coming to the boil, finding only one too good last twice, giving best only very late on at Hexham last month. Should be thereabouts again.

Point winner back in 2016 but lightly raced under Rules. Placed on 3 of 4 outings this season, including when third over C&D latest, so should be thereabouts once more.

Back to form when second at Hexham (23.3f), finishing well after being badly outpaced, but struggled at Wetherby since. 4 lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Geonice (10/3), Shoeshine Boy (7/2), Release The Kraken (4/1), Your Place (6/1), Askgarmor (7/1), You Some Boy (7/1), Bak Rocky (15/2), Go Bob Go (12/1), Fame And Hope (18/1), Walkonthewildside (28/1), Geyser (300/1)

Verdict

RELEASE THE KRAKEN was let down by his jumping again on handicap debut at Wetherby but he's worth another chance with headgear applied back from a break off what remains a potentially good mark. Bak Rocky took a step back in the right direction at Kelso and looks worth another try at this trip, while Shoeshine Boy and Your Place have both been knocking on the door recently.
