Raced alone on stand side when landing Ayr Gold Cup in September, landing the big sprint handicap he'd been threatening to win for a while. Should be better for Doncaster return 14 days ago and while 7f might not be his trip he may get away with it in a potentially-messy small-field scenario.

Much improved for this yard last year, racking up a hat-trick in handicaps around 7f in early-summer and several good efforts in stronger races after. Not seen to best effect at Ascot final start and could well have more to offer in 2022.

Superbly-bred colt who has won 3 times over this trip in small-field scenarios. Excuses for his defeat in messy running of the Celebration Mile when last seen and good record fresh bodes well. Big run on the cards.

Debut winner at Haydock over 6f then placed in the Morny and Mill Reef in 2020. Patchy record last year, although ran well in the Jersey over this trip and signed off with a fine effort in big-field listed Doncaster event in first-time visor. New trainer has made a promising start.

Only 2 wins to his name, although several good runs in valuable 7f handicaps last term while also landing that second victory in a small-field C&D event in August. No surprise to see him go well again on return.

Forecasts

Mutasaabeq (6/4), Symbolize (5/2), Rhythm Master (4/1), Rhoscolyn (6/1), Bielsa (12/1)

Verdict

A small field but all of these are smart performers, with MUTASAABEQ potentially the best of the bunch as he starts out on his 4-y-o campaign. He's got a good record fresh and his class could tell with his sights lowered again on his return. James Horton has made a fine start with his runners and Rhythm Master looks set for a big performance. Symbolize can't be discounted, either.
