Improved with back-to-back 3m wins at Southwell/Ludlow last spring and off the mark for the season when making all at Fontwell in January. Found the Eider too competitive at Newcastle recently but a return to this sort of trip should suit. Cheekpieces retained.

Improved as a chaser this season, scoring at Wetherby in October and in a 3-runner event at Catterick in January. Found things too competitive in the Grimthorpe at Doncaster last month and he may face another struggle.

Placed on her first 3 starts this campaign but not so good on her last couple of outings, stopping quickly having made a bad mistake 5 out in the Grimthorpe last month. 5 lb lower than when finishing runner-up in this last year, she's not without hope.

Fairly useful winner over hurdles and off the mark over fences at the third attempt at Uttoxeter (20f) in December. Made it back-to-back course wins next time but showed his first ever sign of temperament when swerving and unseating back there 19 days ago.

All stamina and back to his best in first-time visor when winning North Yorkshire National (30f) at Catterick in January. Ran no sort of race (from 10 lb out of the handicap) in Midlands National last time and blinkers now tried instead of the visor.

Successful a couple of times over fences last season (including this corresponding race) but turned in a rare poor effort (sporting first-time blinkers) back over timber at Ascot in February. Cheekpieces back on and 5 lb higher than when landing this last season.

Back-to-back winner last season who relished the step up to a marathon distance to get off the mark over fences at Chepstow (30.6f, good to soft, 13/2) a fortnight ago. Cheekpieces added to usual tongue strap and looks sure to go well upped 6 lb.

Thrived over fences last term, winning 4 times (at up to 29f) and having struggled for most of this season, revived all of a sudden to take his record at Warwick to 4 wins from as many starts 25 days ago. Up 8 lb but remains with obvious handicapping scope.

Long-standing maiden over fences who's prone to errors, only 21 lengths third of 8 to Gats And Co in handicap chase at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Looks up against it from just out of the weights.

Verdict

A real flagbearer for the Sheila Lewis yard last season, VOLCANO was revived all of a sudden to take his record at Warwick to 4 wins from as many starts last month. He remains with obvious handicapping scope and the strength of his finishing effort last time bodes well for his prospects of following up here. Gats And Co is a progressive staying handicapper who needs keeping onside so he's feared most, ahead of Silver In Disguise and last year's winner Amateur.
