Hereford maiden chase winner over 25.2f last season. Has offered little since, well beaten at Doncaster last time. Back up in trip with cheekpieces tried. Plenty to prove.

Made a successful debut over fences in 23f novice handicap at Taunton in November but that was a weak contest and he's struggled badly in his 2 outings since. Another with questions to answer.

Veteran who won 3 handicap chases in 2021 (including this race) but pulled up on his last 4 starts. Needs to find his spark again back from a break but it's possible for in-form yard.

Successful return last May in 3-runner 17f handicap at Stratford but he's lost the plot, taking little interest at Huntingdon last time. Back up in trip. Can only be fancied if strong in the betting.

Dual chase winner early this season (second over C&D) but little impact in 3 runs since. Back from another break and another with something to prove.

Rather up and down this season but his latest C&D second under this rider was one of his better efforts and that has proven to be good form. Worth chancing in the hope he can build on that.

Temperamental but this rider gets a fine tune out of him and they notched up a third win of the campaign together in C&D handicap last month, cajoled ahead on the run-in. Current good run of form will count for plenty in this.

Forecasts

Ecossais (6/4), Steel Wave (7/2), Debden Bank (11/2), Port Of Mars (7/1), Roque It (10/1), Lock's Corner (16/1), William Of Orange (20/1)

Verdict

ECOSSAIS and the veteran Steel Wave are the pair in form and worth focussing on, Oliver Greenall's charge getting the vote with the form of his latest second over C&D having worked out. Tabitha Worsley should get a good tune out of Steel Wave again and he can't be ignored. The other five all have questions to answer, but last year's winner William of Orange could stage a revival.
