Took advantage of a much-reduced mark in emphatic fashion in 5-runner event at Chepstow and found extra when following up at Carlisle. Today's useful 7 lb claimer enlisted when completing hat-trick at Sandown (19.8f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Back up in trip but hard to oppose in current mood.

Point/novice hurdle winner who has improved for the step up to 3m this term, winning handicaps at Ffos Las and Chepstow to begin the season. Didn't give his running when pulled up at the latter course 88 days ago, but not one to write off following a break.

Failed to kick on from a winning reappearance over fences at Stratford (19.5f, soft), including when tailed off reverted to hurdling at Sedgefield 6 months ago. Plenty to prove having rejoined former yard after leaving Dr Richard Newland.

Verdict

WEST TO THE BRIDGE has been in the form of his life of late, racking up a hat-trick of wins at around 19f, and he can go on to record another victory. The way he has been seeing out his races suggests that the step back up in distance won't be a problem, so in his current mood the 9-y-o can land the 4-timer. Take Your Time disappointed last time but could bounce back for Paul Nicholls to pose the biggest threat, while Lamanver Pippin reverts to hurdling in the hope of a revival.
