Runner-up twice before getting off the mark in a 25f Hereford maiden 35 days ago. Did make quite hard work of landing short odds on that occasion but still rates a potential improver in handicaps.

Ran poorly over fences last time (0-7 in that sphere) but this dual hurdle winner is well handicapped if a return to the smaller obstacles helps to spark a revival. Might be worth chancing.

Ended lengthy losing run at Leicester in December on yard debut but hasn't been in the same form in his 2 starts since. Needs to bounce back.

Fair bumper performer. Similar form first 2 hurdle starts and perhaps simply unsuited by heavy ground when running poorly at Uttoxeter latest. Tongue tie goes on now handicapping.

Bumper/maiden hurdle winner towards the end of 2021. Respectable fourth on Musselburgh handicap debut last month and dropped 3 lb since. Possible longer trip could unlock improvement. Respected.

Ended a losing sequence stretching back to 2019 at Cartmel (2¾m) in July. Easily best run since then when second of 11 at Sedgefield in January. Disappointing at Catterick since.

Verdict

In a trappy finale it may be worth taking a chance that a return to hurdles sparks something in THEGALLANTWAY as he's certainly well treated on his best form. Richard Bandey has sent out a couple of nice winners in the Tim Syder silks in the last week or so and Godrevy Point has the potential for better in handicaps, despite making a bit of a meal of it last time. River Walk is best of the rest.
