Stepped up on low-key reappearance/handicap debut when just touched off at Fontwell (21.8f, good to soft). Failed to repeat that effort at Ludlow next time, however, running poorly.

Took advantage of a much-reduced mark to register his first win in over 3 years in 5-runner handicap at Taunton last time. Still fairly treated up 4 lb.

Career best to get off the mark on second handicap start at Exeter. Failed to get the job done off same mark at Doncaster a week later and struggled on testing ground since. Worth another chance.

Dual Plumpton winner last term. All the better for return when good second at Huntingdon 16 days ago, faring best of those held up. Likely to go well again off same mark.

Forecasts

Voyburg (3/1), Be The Difference (3/1), Midnight Glance (9/2), Trixster (9/2), Cafe Pushkin (13/2), Angel of Harlem (17/2)

Verdict

MIDNIGHT GLANCE stepped up on his reappearance when second at Huntingdon earlier this month, challenging from further back than the winner in a steadily-run contest. He remains fresh for this time of year and can go one place better off the same mark. Voyburg has had possible excuses since scoring at Exeter so could be worth another chance, while Trixster ended his losing run at Taunton last time.
