Useful mare who was probably feeling the effects of a heavy Aintree fall on her latest start at Doncaster (20.5f, heavy, 10/1) 58 days ago. Looks fairly treated and given time to recover could easily bounce back to form. Might not be as well suited to a thorough test at this trip as others though.

Went backwards from promising chase debut when last of 4 in handicap chase at Chepstow in January. Has proven she can bounce back from a blip however and is only 4lb higher than when winning over the smaller obstacles last season. Step up in trip an unknown but may unlock further progression.

Immediately opened her account over fences in a Ffos Las handicap in October. Set stiff tests on both subsequent runs, meeting L’Homme Presse at Ascot and fifth of 8 in a valuable mares' handicap chase at Lingfield 35 days ago. With stamina assured she should go close in calmer waters today.

Paid the price for taking on a resurgent Storm Control when sixth of 8 in handicap chase at Newbury (23.4f, soft) last month. Has had a breathing operation since and front running tactics should be much easier to sustain here. Could be hard to catch if given her own way.

Finished a respectable 16¼ lengths third of 7 to Eleanor Bob in handicap chase at Chepstow (23.6f, soft) before the winner went on to further success. May be capable of taking advantage of her rapidly falling mark soon but races a full stone out of the handicap, meaning she has it all to do today.

Legends Ryde (6/4), Eleanor Bob (6/4), Farne (3/1), Hawthorn Cottage (7/2), Midnightreferendum (9/2), Glorious Lady (22/1)

Verdict

LEGENDS RYDE faced stiff assignments on her last two starts but in calmer waters can pick up a second chase success. She had Eleanor Bob well back in third earlier in the season and with less pressure on her jumping she is the one to beat. Venetia Williams’ mare is in better form now and although has work to do to reverse that form, a hat-trick bid isn’t discounted. Hawthorne Cottage is the major danger should she be allowed an uncontested lead after a breathing operation.
