Tiger Groom gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/smart chaser Southfield Stone. Dam bumper winner. Market should prove a good guide for this newcomer.

Tongue strap on for 1st time, prominent to 3 out when sixth of 13 in novice hurdle (22/1) at this course (18.5f, heavy) 12 days ago. May do better still, so he's no forlorn hope.

Poor hurdler. Remains a maiden after 32 runs, so others are much preferred.

Forecasts

Kingofthewest (4/9), Sadler's Bay (4/1), Ben Bulben (9/1), Pachacuti (12/1), Vanderbilt (25/1), Call Me Tlalok (25/1), Labei Vitesse (80/1), Jean Bart (150/1)

Verdict

KINGOFTHEWEST sets a good standard on form and David Pipe's son of Westerner is hard to look beyond in his bid to make it 2-3 in this sphere. Sadler's Bay showed up well on his hurdling bow when third over C&D and is feared most, although a market move for Harry Fry's hurdling-newcomer Ben Bulben would put a slightly different slant on things.
