Off time: 13:56 | Winning time: 6m 41.33s

Another Venture^p²²

Age: 11| Weight: 12-6| J: Mr George Daly⁽⁷⁾| T: N J Henderson| OR: 132| BF| D

8/1

Lightly raced for Nicky Henderson and far fro discredited when runner-up at Ludlow on hunter debut last month. Refitting of cheekpieces could put an edge back on him.

Form: 3/1FP-32

Porlock Bay⁴⁵

Age: 11| Weight: 12-6| J: Mr William Biddick| T: W Biddick| OR: 139

4/9

Cheltenham Hunter Chase winner who should be fit from a respectable return in points recently. Can take this before attempting to a repeat at Cheltenham.

Form: 21/121-2

Quarenta²²

Age: 10| Weight: 12-6| J: Mr Anthony O'Neill⁽⁷⁾| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 130| D

22/1

Classy on his day but hard to make a solid case for having been pulled up on each of his 3 starts in handicap chases this year. Admittedly, this is a bit easier.

Form: 193-PPP

Dieu Vivant^t¹³¹

Age: 9| Weight: 12-2| J: Toby Wynne⁽⁷⁾| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR: 114| DWS

40/1

Fairly useful operator who wasn't at his best in hunter chases last spring and finished weakly in a handicap when last seen 131 days ago. Returns with a bit to prove.

Form: P254-83

Salvatore²⁰

Age: 9| Weight: 12-2| J: Mr D Andrews⁽⁷⁾| T: P Rowley| OR: 128| D

14/1

Prolific pointer who made second hunter outing a winning one at Musselburgh a year ago but disappointing on his next couple of starts and recent efforts between the flags a bit underwhelming.

Form: 1P4-234

Unai²²

Age: 7| Weight: 12-2| J: Mr Henry Bailey⁽⁷⁾| T: B Clarke| OR: 105| D

66/1

Fair chaser who gave his running when fifth at Ludlow on hunter debut 22 days ago but lacks the class to compete against some of these rivals.

Form: 331-455

Tel'art^t1⁴⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Mr Bradley Gibbs⁽³⁾| T: R L Llewellyn| OR: 114| C

4/1

Fairly useful hurdler for Ben Pauling and made a reasonable chasing/stable debut when second in a point earlier this year, so not completely dismissed.

Form: 86-1342

Non-Runners

Sir Mangan³³

Weight: 11-12| Age: 14

T: A Hill J: Ben Sutton

Forecasts

Porlock Bay (4/9), Tel'art (4/1), Another Venture (8/1), Sir Mangan (10/1), Salvatore (14/1), Quarenta (22/1), Dieu Vivant (40/1), Unai (66/1)

PORLOCK BAY showed a cracking attitude to land a Hunter Chase at Cheltenham last March and, having shown his well-being between the flags recently, he's fancied to make a winning return to Rules at the likely expense of Another Venture who made a respectable start in this discipline when second at Ludlow 22 days ago. A return to form from Quarenta would make him a big player.
