Looks to be going the wrong way, well beaten on hurdles debut (for Alan King) and again on the level the last twice. Hard to fancy.

Modest Flat performer (stays 12.5f). Goes jumping rather late in the day for new yard but is a half-brother to fair/temperamental hurdler Stags Leap.

Twice placed in bumpers but well held both starts over hurdles 7 months apart. Might be one for handicaps.

Fair Flat maiden who has made a bright start over hurdles at Ffos Las, again finding just a subsequent winner too good when grabbing the silver medal again 8 weeks ago. Deserves a change of luck.

£45,000 buy, half-brother to high-class chaser Traffic Fluide (2m-3m winner). Irish point winner, though beaten in match last time (Jan 2). In good hands and could make presence felt.

Fairly useful on the Flat (won 1½m Newmarket handicap for the Gosdens in May). Fitted with cheekpieces and easy to back when well held on hurdles debut at Musselburgh on New Year's Day. Needs more.

Useful on Flat, winning 3 handicaps in 2021 (sold from Ralph Beckett, 68,000 gns). Promising first effort over hurdles at Wetherby in November but held in stronger Cheltenham event next time. Hood on.

Hinted at ability starting out in a Doncaster bumper in November but proved too free on hurdles debut at Wetherby last month.

Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1½m, has raced freely). Sold from Andrew Balding 41,000 gns in September and gelded. Worth a look on hurdles debut.

Forecasts

Port Or Starboard (2/1), Red Vision (16/5), Patient Dream (4/1), Meritorious (9/2), Zuraig (13/2), Ceolwulf (18/1), Edgar Allan Poe (50/1), Northern Falcon (50/1), Royle Steel (80/1), Danking (300/1), Askalli (300/1)

Verdict

PORT OR STARBOARD deserves a change of luck after 3 fine second-place efforts at Ffos Las and he's taken to open his account. Patient Dream remains with potential for better in this sphere judged on his useful Flat form and he's a big player back from a break fitted with a hood. Red Vision is in good hands now switched to hurdles and could get involved at the first time of asking.
