Horse A-Z
Elusive City horse. Dam half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (2¼m-19f winner) Mojo Moon. Useful on Flat (stays 15.5f) and interesting now hurdling having changed hands for €140,000 in November.

Placed on second of 2 starts in bumpers and in process of shaping creditably prior to falling heavily 2 out on yard/hurdles bow at Market Rasen (20.6f) last month. Open to improvement moving forward.

Lightly-raced winner in points who ran to a fair level when fourth in a Southwell bumper (15.8f) earlier this month. Type to make his mark over hurdles and he's worth a look here.

Half-brother to fair 2m hurdle winner Marley Joe (stayed 19f). Maiden pointer himself, third last time (Dec 2020). Probably best watched now tackling timber for the first time.

Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1½m). Changed hands for 60,000 gns but didn't show much on hurdles bow at Warwick (2m) last winter. Not disgraced on Flat recently but progress required back over timber.

Little impact in a handful of bumpers and similar story over hurdles in recent weeks.

Fair form both starts in bumpers but looked a work-in-progress both starts in maiden/novice hurdles of late, dropping away home turn when pulled up at Doncaster (19.4f) last time.

Wide-margin point winner who showed a bit sole start in bumpers. Similar story on second of 3 starts over hurdles but handicaps entitled to be more his bag in due course.

Opened account at sixth attempt in bumpers at Kilbeggan (19f) in September. Much better than distance beaten suggests on yard/hurdles debut at Doncaster latest (bad mistake 3 out). Will improve.

Shirocco gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 21f) Last Goodbye. Easy to back and shaped as if in need of experience on hurdles debut at Hereford earlier this month.

Forecasts

Aristocrate (6/4), Watergrange Jack (5/2), Ballycamus (9/2), Baby Ben (13/2), Dreaming Blue (14/1), Takoda (25/1), Kicksaftersix (28/1), My Ticketyboo (40/1), Joey's Gift (125/1), Demothi (150/1)

Verdict

A useful staying performer on the Flat, ARISTOCRATE changed hands for €140,000 in November and he could well be the way to go now hurdling in a race that doesn't look the strongest. Watergrange Jack was shaping encouragingly before coming to grief on hurdles bow at Doncaster and is feared, along with Baby Ben.

  1. ARISTOCRATE (FR)
  2. WATERGRANGE JACK (IRE)
  3. BABY BEN (IRE)
