Dam unraced half-sister to smart chaser Woodland Opera. Tongue tied and denied a clear run when sixth in an Irish bumper for Aiden Fitzgerald. Not so good in a course bumper on Boxing Day.

Picked up for £25,000 having finished second in an Irish point and he made a very useful prospect work hard to land the odds on hurdles bow at Ludlow last month. Very much the one to beat.

Minor promise only in bumpers but more like it sent hurdling when runner-up in a C&D maiden in November. Didn't look totally straightforward in the process and this is a deeper race.

Promise on 2 of 3 starts in bumpers and given considerate introduction to hurdles when fifth of 9 in a Market Rasen maiden (16.5f). Better form despite occupying same spot at Warwick.

In need of the experience when fourth of 9 in bumper at Southwell on his debut in May. Underwent wind surgery prior to hurdles bow and was given a considerate ride at Chepstow.

Clear signs of ability both starts over hurdles but looks the type to do better once tackling handicaps.

Forecasts

Frere d'Armes (4/5), Lady Jane P (11/4), Dream In The Park (3/1), Peace River (13/2), Walkonthewildside (9/1), Thanksforthehelp (14/1), Presenting Pete (22/1), Ez Tiger (100/1), Old Duke (125/1), Joey's Gift (300/1)

Verdict

FRERE D'ARMES put 26 lengths between himself and the rest when pushing an established sort close on hurdles debut at Ludlow, and with the prospect of more to come, he will take some stopping. Dream In The Park and Lady Jane P laid solid foundations for hurdling in bumpers and look the chief threats.

  1. FRERE D'ARMES (FR)
  2. DREAM IN THE PARK (IRE)
  3. LADY JANE P (IRE)
