Off the mark in a couple of handicap hurdles this season. Seemed unsuited by testing conditions at Doncaster last time but looks vulnerable under a double penalty back in a novice.

Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points. Made a successful start under Rules in a 2½m Carlisle novice hurdle. Not in same form under a penalty at Doncaster but worth another chance up in trip.

Showed plenty of ability when fifth of 15 in a 2m Chepstow bumper and made a winning start over hurdles in the style of a useful prospect at Market Rasen. Should stay and can defy a penalty.

Placed twice from 3 starts in Irish points and promising start to hurdles career when runner-up at Lingfield on October. Similar form when second at Carlisle should be in the mix again.

Verdict

GUERLAIN DE VAUX looked a useful prospect when making a winning start over hurdles at Market Rasen 6 weeks ago so is taken to defy a penalty. Best Trition can fill the runner-up spot again.
