Ramonex^p,t³³

Age: 11| Weight: 11-13| J: Lily Pinchin⁽⁵⁾| T: R Hobson| OR: 106

6/1

Inconsistent 10yo who posted one of his better efforts when second of 4 at Newcastle on reappearance but was pulled up at Doncaster next time. Definite claims if on a going day.

Form: P44P-2P

Happy News^p1,t⁹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-13| J: Jordan Nailor⁽³⁾| T: J Groucott| OR: 106| CD

11/1

Scored at Ludlow in October but has posted just one respectable effort in 3 subsequent outings, pulled up at Southwell 9 days ago. Cheekpieces are now tried, but others are more persuasive.

Form: 17-1P3P

Elkstone^h⁹

Age: 11| Weight: 11-12| J: S Bowen| T: Mrs Caroline Bailey| OR: 105| D

6/1

Irresolute performer who returned from a breathing operation with his first respectable effort of the season when fourth at Southwell 9 days ago. Well handicapped if he can build on that.

Form: 31-PPP4

Monty's Award^b1³⁶

Age: 10| Weight: 11-11| J: James Davies| T: A Irvine| OR: 104| D

33/1

Twice a winner last season though not the most consistent, and recent efforts have been poor. Change of headgear.

Form: 1-437P8

Get Bye³⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-3| J: J J Burke| T: T R George| OR: 96

6/1

No real impact in bumpers/over hurdles and switch to chasing failed to see him in a better light (pulled up) in a handicap at Lingfield 35 days ago. Others preferred.

Form: 7/775-3P

Celma Des Bois²⁹³

Age: 10| Weight: 11-1| J: N F Houlihan⁽³⁾| T: R Rowe| OR: 94| D

17/2

Lightly raced in recent seasons but showed he retains ability when second at Chepstow when last seen 9 months ago, unable to seal the deal having kicked clear briefly. Down in trip on return.

Form: P/552U2-

Pakie's Dream^p¹³⁵

Age: 8| Weight: 10-11| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Candlish| OR: 90

10/1

Struggled over both sets of obstacles last year, so returns from 135 days off with something to prove. Well treated if he can bounce back, however.

Form: F2P660

Steel Wave^t,v²⁸

Age: 12| Weight: 10-10| J: Tabitha Worsley⁽⁵⁾| T: G Hanmer| OR: 89| D

10/1

Temperamental sort who upped his game to end losing run at Stratford but rather predictably has been below form on both subsequent outings. Not completely dismissed in a thin race.

Form: 484143

Maasai Warrior^t1⁵⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Houlihan| T: P Henderson| OR: 78| DWS

8/1

Dual 20f handicap chase winner in the spring but he comes here under a cloud, pulled up on his last two outings. Tongue strap applied after a couple of months off.

Form: 11-P3PP

Harry Hazard³⁵

Age: 8| Weight: 10-0| J: Page Fuller| T: A Irvine| OR: 76

16/1

Didn't shape badly on chase debut at Lingfield in October 2020 but little encouragement since. Others make more appeal.

Form: 548/5-6P

Big Bad Buzz^h,t1¹⁰⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 10-0| J: Callum Bewley| T: R Potter| OR: 72WS

9/2

Unseated both starts in points and no promise under Rules as yet. Out of the weights, but scope for improvement now switched to handicaps/chasing, so worth a market check.

Form: U/U8-39P

Forecasts

Big Bad Buzz (9/2), Ramonex (6/1), Get Bye (6/1), Elkstone (6/1), Maasai Warrior (8/1), Celma Des Bois (17/2), Steel Wave (10/1), Pakie's Dream (10/1), Happy News (11/1), Harry Hazard (16/1), Prairie Town (20/1), Monty's Award (33/1)

ELKSTONE is far from the most reliable but he's well treated and took a step back in the right direction last time, so he could be worth chancing in a race where the entire field have questions to answer. Celma des Bois is a player if tuned up for his return, and handicap/chasing debutant Big Bad Buzz is worth monitoring in the betting back from a break.
