John Betjeman^b³⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-12| J: Joe Anderson⁽³⁾| T: Mark Gillard| OR: 110| D

10/1

Off the mark in a Ffos Las handicap in May but little show in 4 subsequent starts since, including a spin on the Flat. Down another couple of pounds but probably best to look elsewhere.

Not Sure^p1⁴⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-11| J: Daire James McConville⁽⁸⁾| T: Kerry Lee| OR: 109| BF

11/10

Runner-up on the second of 2 starts in bumpers and promise when fourth on both outings over hurdles last season. Possibly needed run on return/handicap bow and one to note with cheekpieces applied.

Form: 5244-8

Mordred^h¹⁰⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Archie Bellamy| T: M F Harris| OR: 102

7/4

Fairly useful on Flat for Richard Hannon. Made pleasing start in this sphere when second at Stratford in June but below that level both starts since. Has joined in-form yard ahead of handicap debut.

Form: 235

Falcon Sun^p,t⁴⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 10-4| J: Angus Cheleda| T: M Roberts| OR: 88| CD

11/2

Ungenuine type. Flicker of hope in first-time cheekpieces on penultimate start at Uttoxeter in October but well held back there a fortnight later. Easily ignored judged on that effort.

Form: P4-6869

Forecasts

Not Sure (11/10), Mordred (7/4), Dream Du Grand Val (3/1), Falcon Sun (11/2), John Betjeman (10/1), Jaisalmer (12/1), Jembug Drummer (12/1)

A few in with chances but this may be best left to MORDRED, who failed to cut much ice in a handful of starts for Paul Webber this year but has joined a yard going great guns. He can make a winning handicap debut at the expense of Not Sure, who shaped as if the run would bring him on at Ascot last month and may benefit from first-time cheekpieces. Dream du Grand Val completes the shortlist.
