Irish point recruit who made a successful start under Rules in a 2½m Carlisle novice hurdle 41 days ago. Will need to step up on that to defy a penalty but yard's very good form provides hope.

Half-brother to fairly useful chaser De Bene Esse and bumper winner Dante's Way. Promising start when fourth in an Irish bumper for Colin Motherway and also showed plenty when second on hurdles bow.

Promise first 2 starts in bumpers before finding a deeper race at Cheltenham to much in October. Step up in trip will suit now hurdling.

Showed fair form both bumper starts but made an inauspicious start over hurdles, making the mess of the first and falling a flight later.

Failed to beat a rival both bumper starts but pedigree suggests he must be capable of a lot better now hurdling. Has left Nigel Twiston-Davies and is fitted with a tongue tie.

Overcame inexperience to make winning bumper debut at WIncanton (15.3f) last December. Pulled up sharply at Warwick in March but did offer something to work on sent hurdling last month.

€52,000 3-y-o, Fame And Glory gelding. Dam, ran once on Flat, half-sister to high-class hurdler Countrywide Flame. Unplaced sole start in Irish points and looked in need of the run on hurdles bow.

Fame And Glory gelding who was placed all 4 bumper starts last season, showing fairly useful form. Didn't look an easy ride on recent hurdles bow but has to be of interest at this level.

Forecasts

Top Of The Bill (15/8), Gredin (16/5), Westwood Ryder (7/2), Ask The Doc (4/1), Mucho Mas (5/1), The Street (11/1), Kicksaftersix (16/1), Fine By Me (28/1), Let It Loose (50/1)

Verdict

WESTWOOD RYDER split next-time-out winners when runner-up in his bumper during the spring and, sure to be well schooled for this hurdles debut, he can go one better. Gredin has to defy a penalty but seems certain to give it a good go, while Top of The Bill possesses the raw ability to win a novice.

  1. WESTWOOD RYDER (IRE)
  2. GREDIN (FR)
  3. TOP OF THE BILL (IRE)
