Made good strides over fences last term and picked up where he'd left off by making it 4 wins in a row at Stratford in October. However, his bubble was well and truly burst at Cheltenham next time.

Produced best effort yet when narrowly prevailing in 3m Ascot listed handicap in February. Now 1 lb below that winning mark, but with good reason having shown precious little so far this season.

Highly progressive chaser last season, bagging handicaps at Wincanton and Hereford. Recent spin over hurdles will have blown away the cobwebs and he remains of strong interest in this sphere.

Sopran Thor29

Fairly useful hurdler who has taken well to fences, winning by a wide margin on return/debut in this sphere at Lingfield prior to chasing home a progressive type at Kempton (20.5f). Leading claims.

Useful hurdler who finished a fine fourth in the 22-runner Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Little encouragement on return/chase debut at Ascot, but he's surely worth another chance.

Improved form over fences last term, the only finisher at Catterick (25f, heavy) and signing off with a good run at Haydock. Below par on return in the Grand Sefton at Aintree, but this is easier.

Ex-pointer who has responded well to fitting of blinkers, doubling chase tally at Leicester in March. Better than bare result at Warwick when last seen in May and he's not discounted.

Hamilton Dici32

Warwick maiden hurdle winner last term and produced a good round of jumping when scoring on return/chase debut there (2½m) last month. 6 lb rise fair enough and likely there's better to come.

Forecasts

Sopran Thor (15/8), Hamilton Dici (3/1), Whatsupwithyou (4/1), Flagrant Delitiep (15/2), Kap Auteuil (12/1), Thomas Macdonagh (12/1), Somekindofstar (16/1), Captain Chaos (66/1)

Verdict

Armed with a handy 4-y-o allowance, HAMILTON DICI is taken to build on his Warwick chase debut success by following up here. This is a tougher assignment, but he's completely unexposed and looked a natural jumper of fences at Warwick. Flagrant Delitiep should be all the better for his reappearance in a novice hurdle and is feared back in this sphere, while Sopran Thor also merits respect.

  1. HAMILTON DICI (FR)
  2. FLAGRANT DELITIEP (FR)
  3. SOPRAN THOR (FR)
