Short Run Press Printers And Book Binders 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 12:55 | Winning time: 4m 0.55s

Jay Jay Reilly¹⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 11-5| J: Bridget Andrews| T: D Skelton| OR: 121| D

6/4

Gradual progress in bumpers last term and struck at second attempt over hurdles when making all in 2m Kempton novice (2m, good to soft). Further progress likely and he's the one to beat.

Form: 473-21

Key To The Moon^h¹⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-5| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| D

14/1

Left bumper exploits well behind when making a winning hurdles debut at Ludlow (2m, good). Perhaps the slow ground was against him at Ffos Las next time, but looks vulnerable here all the same.

Form: 0-516

Earth Company¹⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Sean Houlihan⁽³⁾| T: P Hobbs & J White

3/1

Made the frame on 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers last season and positive start over hurdles after wind op when third to the potentially smart Knappers Hill at Wincanton (15.2f). Open to improvement.

Form: 420-3

Gala De Corton¹⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 108

10/3

Bettered low-key hurdles debut when chasing home exciting stablemate Knappers Hill at Wincanton, with Earth Company hot on his heels in third. More needed in order to go one better here.

Form: 306-42

Gorcombe Moonshine^h¹⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 10-12| J: Max Kendrick| T: J D Frost

125/1

Twice runner-up in small-field bumpers this year, but probably didn't achieve a great deal in the process. Brought down early on starting out over hurdles in the Wincanton novice won by Knappers Hill.

Form: 8224B

Brilliant Present²⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 10-5| J: Paul O'Brien| T: N J Henderson| D

5/1

Winner of an all-weather bumper last winter and Warwick hurdles debut in May wasn't devoid of promise. However, she failed to build on that when returning to action at Huntingdon last month.

Form: 61-56

My Keepsake¹⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 10-5| J: Ben Jones| T: P Hobbs & J White

80/1

Fair form in bumpers, but she hasn't made much of an impact in a couple of mares' novice hurdles and yard saddles a far stronger candidate in Earth Company.

Form: 327-50

Forecasts

Jay Jay Reilly (6/4), Earth Company (3/1), Gala De Corton (10/3), Brilliant Present (5/1), Key To The Moon (14/1), My Keepsake (80/1), Gorcombe Moonshine (125/1)

There was much to like about the way JAY JAY REILLY did the job in a Kempton novice recently and, with further improvement on the cards, he looks capable of defying a penalty in this company. Gala de Corton had race-fitness and hurdles experience on his side when finishing a place ahead of Earth Company at Wincanton, placings which the latter is taken to reverse here with that run under his belt.
