Racing To School Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 13:55 | Winning time: 3m 56.19s

Time To Tinker^p,t²¹⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 11-5| J: Bryony Le Clerc| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 128| CWS

5/4

Improved for cheekpieces when narrowly prevailing here (19f) in March. Unsuited by test of speed back at this course next time (wind op since) and will need a strong pace to aim at now down in trip.

Honneur D'Ajonc¹⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 11-4| J: Chester Williams⁽³⁾| T: Mrs J Williams| OR: 122

11/10

Showed fairly useful form last season and completed a simple task when landing the odds in a 4-runner Hereford novice (19.7f) 15 days ago. Drop back in trip won't be an issue and he's a big player.

Form: 2F9-91

Hatari⁵⁹²

Age: 9| Weight: 10-12| J: Mr F Procter⁽⁷⁾| T: Mrs Camilla Greenwood

300/1

Very poor completion rate between the flags (0-14 in that sphere, completing on just three occasions) and he's impossible to fancy on Rules debut following a 592-day absence.

Form: P456PP/

Olly's Folly⁸⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 10-12| J: Fergus Gillard⁽³⁾| T: Mark Gillard

150/1

Modest maiden on the Flat, winless following 45 attempts in that sphere, and best watched now switched to hurdles for new yard.

Form:

Pol Ma Cree^t²²⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: David Noonan| T: Miss G HaywoodWS

300/1

No show in a couple of bumpers and the story was very much the same on C&D hurdles debut when last seen in March. Since undergone a wind op.

Form: P89-

Mahanakhon Power^p⁵⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 10-11| J: S Bowen| T: M Keighley

13/2

Successful twice at up to 11.5f on the Flat for Michael Appleby and, given that he's closely-related to a winning hurdler, he may well make his mark in this sphere. One to note in the betting.

Form:

Blue Collar Glory^h²⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 10-4| J: Craig Nichol| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| D

18/1

Winner of a 5-runner bumper at Worcester in June and showed more than on her hurdles debut when third at Exeter (16.7f) recently, albeit she was still beaten a fair way. Improvement needed.

Form: 3-2163

Forecasts

Honneur D'Ajonc (11/10), Time To Tinker (5/4), Mahanakhon Power (13/2), Blue Collar Glory (18/1), Olly's Folly (150/1), Pol Ma Cree (300/1), Hatari (300/1)

HONNEUR D'AJONC earns the marginal vote ahead of Time To Tinker in what is ultimately likely to boil down to a straight fight, unless dual Flat winner Mahanakhon Power is able to make an immediate impact over hurdles. Time To Tinker is the one to beat on these terms, but this drop back in trip may not be ideal and Honneur d'Ajonc will be better equipped should this turn into a speed test.
