Front runner who took very well to chasing last term, winning 4 of his 5 starts, including a Grade 1 at Sandown. Solid third over hurdles on return and that should have put him spot on ahead of this.

Career-best when landing this race 12 months ago and following same trail this time around, looking as good as ever when scoring on Kelso return 3 weeks ago. Can go well again despite career high mark

Smart chaser who returned last term with an encouraging second at Cheltenham (15.9f) in November. Highly tried thereafter, no threat in Ryanair final start but worth another crack at this sort of trip

Useful hurdler and even better form over fences, doubling tally when taking Gr. 2 Pendil novices' chase at Kempton in February. Not himself at Ayr final start but he remains one to be positive about.

Veteran who defied lengthy absence when taking listed handicap at Wetherby (19.4f) 12 months ago. Hard to knock his efforts thereafter and unlucky not to score at Newton Abbot in May. Not ruled out.

Improved model over fences, successful at Kempton (20.5f) prior to good second in Greatwood Gold Cup in March. Not seen to best effect at Sandown final start and he may do better still. Had wind op.

Forecasts

Allmankind (9/4), Tamaroc Du Mathan (5/1), Itchy Feet (11/2), Killer Clown (7/1), Fanion D'estruval (8/1), Nuts Well (8/1), Huntsman Son (11/1), Midnight Shadow (12/1)

Verdict

A competitive renewal despite the relatively small field with the vote in favour of Paul Nicholls' TAMAROC DU MATHAN. Clearly not himself at Ayr in the spring, he had previously looked one to keep firmly onside, landing the Grade 2 Pendil at Kempton in February, and he can go well. Grade 1 winning novice Allmankind shaped well over hurdles on return and is feared, ahead of Killer Clown.
