Dual hurdles winner who made a winning chase debut at Perth in August 2020. Rather in-and-out since, though, and he'll probably find one or two too good.

Consistent on the whole and he did the job in good style at Perth (2m) last month. This 6 lb higher mark may well be within reach and he's very much the one to beat.

Notched third chase success off this mark at Market Rasen in April. Latest third at Warwick was a fair effort and he'll be a threat if able to keep the mistakes to a minimum.

Winner of maidens over hurdles and in this sphere for Noel Meade back in 2018. However, little impact in 3 runs for this yard and best watched following a 19-month absence.

Belatedly opened hurdles account on debut for this yard at Perth in August. May well have finished second but for his final-fence exit in a Hexham handicap chase recently and he merits respect.

Verdict

The vote goes to GRIPPER, who jumped well in the main prior to coming to grief at the final fence at Hexham 13 days ago. That was just his second start over the larger obstacles and he is appealing off this 2 lb lower mark. The in-form Sword of Fate is greatly respected, despite a 6 lb rise for his latest Perth success, and he is next on the list ahead of Armattiekan.
