Had wind op before encouraging sixth of 11 in maiden at Kempton (7f, 16/1) on her debut 25 days ago. Hood/tongue strap now, and likely to do better. No forlorn hope.

Lope De Vega filly. Half-sister to useful 1m winner Oriental Mystique. Dam, winner up to 1½m, won Musidora Stakes. Lots to like on paper, so an interesting newcomer who is well worth a market check.

13/2, shaped well when debut second of 8 in minor event at Newmarket (8f, good) 20 days ago, missing break and racing green but going on at the finish. Sure to build on that, and the one to beat.

Forecasts

Peripatetic (5/4), Ching Shih (9/4), Fonteyn (11/4), Brown Mouse (12/1), Sky Watcher (22/1), Eclairant Le Monde (50/1), Mambo Beauty (80/1), Hopedale (100/1), Never Say Nay (150/1)

Verdict

PERIPATETIC went with plenty of encouragement when runner-up at Newmarket on her recent debut and can go one better now with a fair bit of improvement in the pipeline expected from this well-related daughter of Ulysses. Fonteyn is another with much better days ahead of her and Kevin Ryan's Beverey third is next on the list with David Simcock's newcomer Ching Shih also greatly respected.

  1. PERIPATETIC
  2. FONTEYN
  3. CHING SHIH (IRE)
