Otello Moor^t¹⁸⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-12| J: D R Fox| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR: 96WS

16/1

Modest form at best over hurdles but bred to make a chaser and yard won this race last year. Has had wind surgery. Interesting runner.

Form: 473079-

Breaking The Ice^p³⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: D B Hurst⁽⁷⁾| T: G Bewley| OR: 93| D

9/4

Made a good start over fences from a low base, winning at Cartmel and Perth. Not seen to best effect (met trouble) when third back at Cartmel latest. Worth another chance.

Form: 052113

Real Armani^t¹³⁶

Age: 9| Weight: 11-9| J: Ross Chapman| T: Mrs J Walton| OR: 93| CD

10/3

Appears to have upped his game a touch since undergoing wind surgery, game winner of back-to-back C&D handicaps in March. Fine second here when last seen in May and big player if primed after break.

Form: 7112-42

Doldrum Bay²⁵

Age: 10| Weight: 11-1| J: Craig Nichol| T: D W Whillans| OR: 85| D

7/2

Still a maiden but runner-up in 3m handicaps at Perth on both chase starts and ought to be competitive again.

Form: 13/5232

Supreme Steel^b²⁹

Age: 10| Weight: 10-4| J: Aaron Anderson⁽⁷⁾| T: M E Sowersby| OR: 74

12/1

Has tumbled down the weights but little sign of taking advantage over hurdles/fences in recent months. Hard to fancy.

Form: 695U56

The Pine Martin^p³¹

Age: 11| Weight: 10-4| J: Alain Cawley| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 74| C

17/2

Only one win from 27 runs but he did offer something to work on when fourth of 12 on his C&D chase debut a month ago. Has cheekpieces refitted.

Form: 033/56-4

Exit Ten³¹

Age: 10| Weight: 10-1| J: C O'Farrell| T: J Walton| OR: 71| D

8/1

Poor form but he did offer a bit more switched to a handicap when 12 lengths fifth of 12 over C&D a month ago, albeit never a threat.

Form: P-F4475

Strategic^b³¹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-0| J: Peter Kavanagh⁽⁷⁾| T: M E Sowersby| OR: 66

28/1

Poor on Flat and similar form over fences, finishing behind a couple of these over C&D last time. Easy to look elsewhere again.

Form: 47-P6P8

Forecasts

Breaking The Ice (9/4), Real Armani (10/3), Doldrum Bay (7/2), Exit Ten (8/1), The Pine Martin (17/2), Supreme Steel (12/1), Otello Moor (16/1), Strategic (28/1)

Things conspired against BREAKING THE ICE at Cartmel last time so that run shouldn't be taken to suggest the handicapper's got his measure and he gets the nod to make it 3 wins in his last 4 starts. Real Armani's fine C&D record makes him an obvious danger assuming he's ready to go after a break, while chase-newcomer Otello Moor is worth keeping an eye on in the betting.
