Encouraging signs on Sandown debut and duly built on that when landing a 5-runner Chester novice (7.6f). Further progress likely and another bold show anticipated.
Far too green to do himself justice on debut at Leicester (5f) in June and probably best watched back from a break here, unless the market suggests otherwise.
Appealing pedigree and promising start to his career when third of 8 recently at Yarmouth (7f) where he put in good late work once the penny dropped. Improvement should be forthcoming.
Shaped well when third in 7f Ascot novice on debut earlier this month. Will almost certainly need a stiffer test in time, but immediate progress is nevertheless likely and he's high on the shortlist.
Foaled February 13. 82,000 gns yearling, New Bay colt. Dam 7f/1m winner who stayed 1¼m. Respected yard no stranger to success with 2-y-o newcomers and he's one to note in the betting.
Foaled January 29. 90,000 gns yearling. Half-brother to US 5.5f winner Splasherstown. Dam, 1m winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to very smart 1½m winner Technician. Watch the betting for clues.
Foaled January 21. Invincible Spirit colt. Dam very smart 1¼m-1½m (Fillies' and Mares' Stakes) winner. Lots to like on paper and confidence behind this colt in the betting would look significant.
Foaled March 12. 20,000 gns foal whose price rose to €168,000 when resold this year. In good hands and he's another interesting newcomer for whom market support would be noteworthy.
Foaled April 21. 75,000 gns yearling. Half-brother to useful 2-y-o 7.6f winner Golden Lips and 1½m winner Maketh Believeth. Worth a second look in the betting.
Strong in the betting and found just one too good starting out in 7f Sandown novice 15 days ago. Will be sharper this time and he looks set for a leading role here.

Forecasts
Hannibal Barca (11/4), Artaois (10/3), Wodeton (10/3), Conservative (6/1), Jimi Hendrix (11/1), Thunder Roar (12/1), Storm Castle (12/1), Wineglass Bay (18/1), Pub Crawl (66/1), Conducive (80/1)
Several promising types on show here, in addition to some likely-looking newcomers. HANNIBAL BARCA made a positive start to his career at Ascot, and though likely to come into his own over middle distances in due course, he gets the nod with Ryan Moore in the hot-seat. Wodeton, Chester-winner Artaois and Conservative all possess potential, while Storm Castle could be the pick of the debutants.
- HANNIBAL BARCA (IRE)
- WODETON (FR)
- ARTAOIS
