Dual course winner who was also third in Chester Cup in May. Perhaps worth forgiving last weekend's run at Haydock as he met trouble. On a good mark.

Added to good strike-rate with wins over this trip at Goodwood and Salisbury this summer. Below par at Glorious Goodwood latest but not the type to stay down for long.

Useful form, including a Bath novice win in May. 11/2, could only manage eighth of 12 on his 12.5f Newcastle handicap debut in July but it's clearly still very early days.

Fairly useful 3m hurdler. Won the Flat last year and he likely needed the run after 4 months off when sixth over an inadequate 1m at Kempton 3 weeks ago. This trip much more suitable.

20/1, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (13.4f, good to soft) when last seen in May. Others arrive with more pressing claims.

Latest win at Kempton in March. Creditable third over 2m at Ripon 19 days ago, no extra late on after travelling smoothly. This sharper test could be ideal.

Has plenty of good efforts to his name here but he doesn't have a good strike-rate (only fourth of 6 here on Friday) and suspicion he'll be vulnerable for win purposes from 3 lb out of handicap.

Off the mark at Haydock in May but below par in recent starts and he's miles out of the handicap here.

Forecasts

Mancini (5/2), Mr Curiosity (11/4), Arrow Of Gold (7/2), Nuits St Georges (4/1), Hochfeld (9/2), Gabrial The One (11/2), Au Clair De Lune (6/1), Hasanabad (8/1), Supakalanistic (28/1), Red Derek (40/1)

Verdict

HOCHFELD has 2 wins, 2 seconds and third in this year's Chester Cup to show from 5 previous visits here. He's now 2 lb lower than for that good run in the Chester Cup so looks well worth siding with at a venue which clearly plays to his strengths. Mancini was a good second here last time and should go well again, while the lightly-raced Arrow of Gold is one who has the potential for better still.
