Greystoke²⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: George Bass⁽⁵⁾| T: M R Channon| OR: 74| D

7/1

Pair of wins around this trip in the spring but recent efforts no more than respectable. This definitely easier than the Class 3 he contested last time but others are still preferred.

Cheeky Az¹⁷⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: Cameron Noble⁽³⁾| T: R Varian| OR: 73

12/1

Fair form when placed in AW maidens at the start of the year but last of 5 on Lingfield handicap debut in March and absent since. This his first outing on turf.

Form: 4325

(3)

Beowulf^b²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: E Walker| OR: 72| D

9/4

Has improved to win Ffos Las handicaps over this trip on his last 2 starts. Chased home by a next-time-out winner last time so could still be well treated even after a 7 lb rise.

Form: 56-3411

(5)

Just Jacob¹³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Tom Marquand| T: W J Haggas| OR: 69| BF

4/1

Fair form. Ran up to his best when fourth of 6 in Yarmouth maiden 13 days ago. Ought to be very competitive from an opening handicap mark in the high-60s.

Form: 8-2424

(4)

Modestus^p¹³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: R L Moore| T: H & R Charlton| OR: 68

7/2

Good pedigree and is steadily getting better, not seen to best effect (met a bit of trouble) when 5 lengths fifth of 12 on Salisbury handicap debut 13 days ago. Cheekpieces worn then retained. Player.

Form: 4445

(8)

The Hood^h1⁶¹

Age: 3| Weight: 8-13| J: M Harley| T: A King| OR: 66

17/2

Seventh on all 4 starts, racing too freely when fading out of it on Leicester handicap debut when last seen in June. Has a hood added on return. Still early days.

Form: 7-777

(2)

Helluvaboy⁶¹

Age: 3| Weight: 8-12| J: R Kingscote| T: A Stronge| OR: 65

14/1

Lightly-raced maiden. Good second of 9 on handicap debut at Leicester (1m, good) in June. Remains unexposed now stepping up to 1¼m for the first time (should suit on breeding).

Form: 4582

(9)

Liberated Lad^t³⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 8-8| J: David Probert| T: Ian Williams| OR: 61| D

33/1

Winner at Lingfield in January but has failed to build on that since, trailing throughout at Windsor last time.

Form: 4-17670

Escobedo³²

Weight: 9-2| Age: 3

Forecasts

Beowulf (9/4), Modestus (7/2), Just Jacob (4/1), Greystoke (7/1), The Hood (17/2), Escobedo (10/1), Cheeky Az (12/1), Helluvaboy (14/1), Liberated Lad (33/1)

The form of BEOWULF's latest Ffos Las win was boosted by the runner-up next time so he could still be ahead of the handicapper despite a 7 lb rise. Modestus was a bit better than the result on his Salisbury handicap debut and likely has a bigger performance in him so he's feared most ahead of the William Haggas-trained Just Jacob.
