Maiden pointer but fair form under Rules in Ireland for Brian McMahon, second in a maiden hunter at Tipperary in May. One to note starting out for shrewd yard over fixed-brush obstacles.

Geordieland gelding. Brother to fairly useful hurdler Straw Fan Jack. Dam (h112) 21f-3m hurdle winner. One to consider if the market speaks in his favour.

Unreliable hurdler who produced his best effort to date when second with cheekpieces fitted in handicap at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago. Headgear not sure to be so effective a second time.

Useful handicapper on Flat (ran creditably 23 days ago) who is proving expensive to follow over hurdles but has the best form on show in this, so looks a serious player.

Modest on the Flat (below form the last twice), so hard to envisage him making any sort of impression on hurdling debut.

Forecasts

Seinesational (6/5), Cardboard Gangster (9/4), Not At Present (7/2), Farmer's Gamble (9/1), Alioski (80/1), Mister Robbo (80/1)

Verdict

CARDBOARD GANGSTER started positively under Rules in Ireland and, given he's an ex-pointer who ran well in a hunter last time, it looks significant that his new connections have targeted these fixed-brush hurdles for his return. He's narrowly preferred to Farmer's Gamble, who looks interesting on paper, while Seinesational has achieved the most over timber to this point, so he's one to consider.

  1. CARDBOARD GANGSTER
  2. FARMER'S GAMBLE
  3. SEINESATIONAL
