National Racehorse Week 12th - 19th September Handicap Chase

Off time: 15:45 | Winning time: 7m 3.00s

Capricia^p1³⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-10| J: S Bowen| T: M Keighley| OR: 91| BF

3/1

Maiden who produced a laboured effort on first chase try when fourth in big-field Uttoxeter handicap (3m) last month. Still, it's early days in this sphere at least and first-time cheekpieces may help

Form: 546P-84

Auld Sod^b³⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 11-6| J: T J O'Brien| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR: 87

8/1

Best effort for a while when ending losing run in good style at Ffos Las (23.8f) in June. Both subsequent efforts have been underwhelming though and still to win from a mark this high.

Form: 443-167

Master Sunrise^b⁵⁰

Age: 12| Weight: 11-5| J: Mr James King⁽³⁾| T: A Ralph| OR: 86

3/1

Temperamental sort but fresh from success between the flags, he ran well to hit the frame in pair of Worcester handicaps (23f) in June. Another decent showing not ruled out back up in trip.

Form: 8/51-124

He Is A Cracker^t²¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: R P McLernon| T: G Brown| OR: 81

5/1

Runner-up on sole start in Irish points and surpassed exploits over hurdles when staying on for third on handicap chase bow here (22.5f) in July. Possibilities if building on that up in trip.

Form: 004-073

Lawtop Legend^b³⁶

Age: 9| Weight: 10-10| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 77| BF

10/3

Scored over hurdles at Plumpton in May for his new yard and not disgraced on each of last 3 starts over fences, third over 3m at Uttoxeter last time. One of the likelier types on balance.

Form: 62-1433

Hardtorock^p,t³⁹

Age: 12| Weight: 10-5| J: Page Fuller| T: Mrs S Gardner| OR: 72

28/1

Unreliable type who hasn't offered much in 2 starts upon returning for present stable this summer. Good deal to prove.

Form: 3554/P6

Frilly Frock^t²¹

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: Alexander Thorne⁽⁵⁾| T: J Mason| OR: 69

12/1

Off the mark in a 25f handicap chase at Wincanton in October. Two of his 3 efforts since have been disappointing however, pulled up on the back of a wind op here (22.5f) last month. Needs to step up.

Form: 31P4-6P

Push Ahead^v1³⁶

Age: 12| Weight: 10-2| J: Chris Ward⁽⁵⁾| T: Sarah Hollinshead| OR: 69

33/1

Yet to show much in four runs over fences, dropping away gradually when seventh of 16 at Uttoxeter (3m) recently. Others preferred now stepping up in trip. Visor replaces cheekpieces.

Form: 70/6P-57

Non-Runners

High Counsel⁵³

Weight: 11-12| Age: 12

T: G Hanmer J: Non Runner

Monty Massini³⁶

Weight: 10-6| Age: 10

T: J L Flint J: Non Runner

Forecasts

Master Sunrise (3/1), Capricia (3/1), Lawtop Legend (10/3), He Is A Cracker (5/1), Auld Sod (8/1), High Counsel (10/1), Monty Massini (10/1), Frilly Frock (12/1), Hardtorock (28/1), Push Ahead (33/1)

A tricky low-grade affair but MASTER SUNRISE does at least arrive on the back of a couple of in-the-frame efforts at Worcester in June and may be the way to go back up in trip. Lawtop Legend and He Is A Cracker are a couple of others to consider.
