Half-brother to several winners, including useful 6f-1m winner Furrion and 1¼m winner Open The Red. Dam 1½m winner. Probably best watched on belated debut given yard's record with newcomers.

Little impact on debut in a Southwell bumper and hasn't fared much better in 2 starts since switched to this sphere.

Unlucky not to make a winning debut at Sandown last month and duly gained compensation when scoring in a first-time hood at Newbury (1¼m). Remains a colt of considerable potential.

€220,000 yearling. Half-sister to useful 1m winner Global Gift. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart performer Do The Honours. Likely type and she's one to note in the betting on belated debut.

Isfahan gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to 7f-9f winner Ibo. Winning newcomers for this yard are few and between, and it's easy enough to look elsewhere.

Sported a visor (retained here) when seventh in a 13-runner Wolverhampton novice (9.5f) on recent debut. Probably more one for handicaps a little further down the line.

Encouraging start to his career when third behind a couple of potentially decent types here (1½m) this month. Not sure that this drop in trip will work in his favour, but he's open to improvement.

Well held on Redcar debut 18 days ago and subsequently withdrawn after refusing to enter the stalls at Pontefract. Tendentious is clearly the stable first-string.

Too green to do himself justice in a couple of runs on the AW for John Gosden earlier this year. Likely he'll be seen in a better light when venturing down the handicap route in due course.

Forecasts

Poet Of Life (4/11), Tendentious (11/2), Tres Speciale (7/1), Alhammaam (15/2), Theyazin (18/1), Magua (66/1), Colleague (80/1), Izar (150/1), Thesethingshappen (250/1), Williamwilberforce (300/1)

Verdict

This race revolves around the well-bred POET OF LIFE, who got the better of a couple of previous winners in what looked a pretty hot Newbury novice earlier this month. He can be expected to follow up here prior to going on to better things. Tendentious and Theyazin both possess potential, particularly the former, but Tres Speciale ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and she is second choice.

  1. POET OF LIFE (IRE)
  2. TRES SPECIALE
  3. TENDENTIOUS
