Global Esteem⁷^{(ex 5)}

Age: 4| Weight: 10-7| J: Mohammed Tabti| T: C A Dwyer| OR: 76

3/1

Ran up to his best when gaining his first success of the year in a 13-runner event at Ascot 7 days ago. Penalty make things tougher, but should go well under a positive ride.

Brunel Charm^p¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 10-0| J: Elinor Jones| T: R Hughes| OR: 74| BF| D

14/1

Latest win at Lingfield in April but has looked in the grip of the handicapper subsequently, only fifth at Chelmsford last time. Vulnerable again.

Form: 561345

(1)

Amathus¹⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-10| J: Rose Dawes| T: P R Chamings| OR: 70

10/1

Scored at Salisbury in April before splitting a pair of next-time-out winners at Goodwood. Run of good form came to an end last time, but too soon to write him off.

Form: 78-7126

(2)

Bhubezi²²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Jonny Peate| T: Eve Johnson Houghton| OR: 72

11/1

Fair winner as a 2yo who wasn't been firing so far this term. Bit to prove.

Form: 174-868

(6)

Hot Day⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Erika Parkinson| T: J S Moore| OR: 72

12/1

Fair form to date but not progressing and mark demands a lot more.

Form: 94-68

(4)

Deputy^h²⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-3| J: Liam Browne| T: C Fellowes| OR: 70| CD

6/4

Less exposed than the bulk of his rivals and overcame a slow start to score with something up his sleeve over C&D last time, so obvious claims provided they go a solid pace.

Form: 266-41

(3)

Sir Roderic^v⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 8-11| J: Christian Howarth| T: B R Millman| OR: 57| D

11/2

Potentially thrown in and came clear of the remainder when runner-up at Chepstow last time, so bold bid expected for all this is a higher grade of handicap.

Form: 067052

Forecasts

Deputy (6/4), Global Esteem (3/1), Sir Roderic (11/2), Amathus (10/1), Bhubezi (11/1), Hot Day (12/1), Brunel Charm (14/1)

SIR RODERIC is better than this mark despite his advancing years, a point underlined by a good second at Chepstow a week ago. If he's in the same form, he should take all the beating, although last-time-out C&D winner Deputy is a clear threat along with Global Esteem.
