13/8

Belied 16-month absence to open his account over hurdles in 2m1f Fontwell novice (good to firm) in May. Ran respectably from a stiff looking mark back in a handicap at Uttoxeter since.

Olympic Conqueror^p³³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 118| D

5/2

Fairly useful 1½m winner on Flat who doubled his hurdles tally under a good ride in 5-runner novice at Uttoxeter (15.8f) 33 days ago, just holding on. Should go well again.

Form: 3313-21

Byzantine Empire^t²²

Age: 4| Weight: 11-3| J: Liam Harrison⁽⁵⁾| T: F O'Brien| OR: 114| CD

6/4

Fairly useful maiden on Flat who make it third time lucky over hurdles when landing a C&D novice in May. Not well placed on Newton Abbot handicap debut subsequently and remains of interest.

Form: 5-312

Deerfoot^t²⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Thomas Dowson| T: M A Barnes| OR: 76

200/1

Still to show any worthwhile form, held when unseating rider last in maiden hurdle at Perth 24 days ago.

Form: PP6-0PU

Get 'em In^t1

50/1

Getaway gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser I'm To Blame and bumper winner Miss Austen. Wears tongue strap.

Form:

Serious Mood⁵⁷⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: Adam Wedge| T: L Morgan

33/1

€14,500 3-y-o, Scorpion gelding. Dam, placed in bumper, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 21f) No Substitute. Winning pointer, pulled up last time (Dec 2019).

Form: 4361P/

Twice The Mustard^t¹⁵

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: Mr G Barfoot-Saunt| T: Mrs Tracey Barfoot-Saunt| OR: 62

300/1

Well held in jumpers bumper/all 3 starts over hurdles.

Form: 0/6-56

Splinter¹⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 10-10| J: Kielan Woods| T: A M Hales

22/1

Fair but temperamental on the Flat. Well held both starts over hurdles 6 months apart, but shaped better than the bare result last time and should do better in handicaps in due course.

Form: 9-4

Forecasts

Byzantine Empire (6/4), Chance A Tune (13/8), Olympic Conqueror (5/2), Splinter (22/1), Serious Mood (33/1), Get 'em In (50/1), Deerfoot (200/1), Twice The Mustard (300/1)

BYZANTINE EMPIRE, Olympic Conqueror and Chance A Tune are all closely matched on form, with the narrow vote going to the first named, who wasn't well placed on his Newton Abbot handicap debut last time and looked good when winning over C&D the time before.
