Won off 2 lb higher over C&D last September but he has a bit to prove at present having posted a couple of below-par efforts in the spring. Off a further 80 days,

Fairly useful hurdler/chaser who has returned from a break in good form, finishing second in a Punchestown chase and Down Royal hurdle in recent months. Respected.

C&D winner who has added to his good course record with a pair of runner-up efforts over 3m in recent weeks. Came 14 lengths clear of the third latterly so a 1 lb rise could prove generous.

Back to winning ways in 2½m handicap at Carlisle in March. Found out in 3m Perth Gold Cup last time but this is less competitive.

Fairly useful chaser at best but has had his problems and pulled up 3 starts back from absence. Did at least get round at Hexham last time but he was a well-held fourth of 6. Blinkered first time.

Four-time C&D winner, including this race in 2019. Third over 3m here in May but merely added to his patchy record when well behind Wolfcatcher and Amalfi Doug over C&D since.

Three-time winner at Ayr since the turn of the year, but he has gone off the boil of late, including well held over 2m here last month.

Forecasts

Amalfi Doug (5/4), Make My Heart Fly (10/3), Wolfcatcher (4/1), Caltex (7/1), Cracking Destiny (9/1), Boy's On Tour (9/1), Ardera Cross (12/1), Duke Debarry (16/1)

Verdict

AMALFI DOUG may have got off lightly going up only 1 lb for his latest 3m course second as he was well clear of the third. This 11-y-o goes really well here and can gain a sixth track success at the chief expense of Wolfcatcher, who actually had the selection in behind when second over C&D on his latest start at the beginning of June. Irish-raider Make My Heart Fly may prove best of the rest.

  1. AMALFI DOUG (FR)
  2. WOLFCATCHER (IRE)
  3. MAKE MY HEART FLY (IRE)
