Signed off last term with a narrow success off this mark at Chester (10.3f, good to soft). Not at his best in 2 starts so far this season, though, and hopes pinned on first-time visor doing the trick.

Goodwood maiden winner at 2 yrs and ran well in a handicap at the big meeting there last July. No show in 3 subsequent starts, though, including on return in April, and now tried in blinkers.

Back on-song with a visor enlisted the last twice, first past the post on the Rowley Mile here before landing the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar (1¼m, good to firm). 4 lb rise fair, but this is tougher.

Likeable sort who bagged handicaps over this C&D and at Sandown last summer. Good efforts both starts this season and, though yet to win off a mark quite this high, he has to enter calculations.

Winner of the Cambridgeshire for amateurs on the other course here last term. Encountered traffic problems when eighth in Redcar handicap won by Good Birthday latest and he's no forlorn hope.

Shaped well sole 2-y-o start and landed a minor event on return at Nottingham. Turned over when odds on at Chelmsford (1m) since, but merits serious respect now upped in trip for this handicap debut.

Forecasts

Mashhoor (10/11), Passion And Glory (5/2), Good Birthday (9/2), Data Protection (5/1), Balgair (15/2), Potenza (8/1), Celtic Art (18/1), Restorer (25/1)

Verdict

The 3-y-o MASHHOOR makes plenty of appeal now faced with a stiffer test and switched to handicap company. Indeed, this well-bred colt has been handed a potentially handy opening mark and he did little wrong on the all-weather last time, for all that he failed to land the odds. Passion And Glory is an obvious danger on the back of his easy Lingfield success and Data Protection also merits respect.

  1. MASHHOOR
  2. PASSION AND GLORY (IRE)
  3. DATA PROTECTION
