French bumper winner who looked useful when winning 2 of his 3 starts in novice hurdles in 2019/20. Disappointed in a pair of handicaps during the autumn but it's early days and he's in top hands.

Tumbled in the weights and ridden more prominently, he finally cashed in over C&D in March. Followed up from 6 lb higher mark here 16 days ago and he's respected in his hat-trick bid.

Just modest form at best in Ireland but having joined a yard that does well with new recruits, left previous efforts behind when winning 8-runner handicap hurdle at Worcester 7 days ago. More to come.

Forecasts

Blue Ribbon (11/8), Champagne City (3/1), Fix Sun (10/3), Thebannerkingrebel (11/2)

Verdict

BLUE RIBBON left previous efforts behind to make a winning start for Dr Richard Newland after 8 months off at Worcester last week. The handicapper is sure have taken a dim view, so he's a confident selection to follow up now wisely turned out under a penalty. Champagne City is clearly right back on song all of a sudden so gets the nod for second, ahead of Thebannerkingrebel.

  1. BLUE RIBBON
  2. CHAMPAGNE CITY
