Horse A-Z
Useful Flat stayer for Charlie Appleby and positive start to hurdles career when runner-up at Carlisle (17f, soft). Forecast quicker ground here a plus and he's open to improvement.

Half-brother to numerous winners, but well held in 2 bumpers and a couple of Kelso novice hurdles this spring.

Fairly useful on Flat, winner of 5 of his 21 starts in that sphere at up to 1½m. Stamina shouldn't be an issue now tackling hurdles and likely to be thereabouts if his jumping passes the test.

Maiden pointer who hasn't shown enough in 2 starts over hurdles to suggest that he'll play a leading role in this contest.

Didn't shape badly when fifth of 12 on debut in a Kelso bumper in November. However, failed to build on that next time and off 5 months prior to this hurdles bow. Has undergone wind surgery.

Bumper winner at second attempt for Gordon Elliott and, having undergone a wind op, he shaped pretty well when fifth in a 12-runner Carlisle maiden (17.2f, soft) on hurdles debut in November.

Well beaten on debut in a bumper (hooded) and got no further than the second flight on recent hurdles debut at Limerick (headgear omitted). Hood refitted.

Forecasts

Alqamar (1/1), Culture (16/5), The Caretaker (4/1), Charlie's Rockstar (10/1), Tham Luang (14/1), Annies Prayer (18/1), Largy Trix (22/1), Lopito (25/1), New Delhi Express (33/1), Hat Yai (50/1), Coopers Boy (150/1), Centenier (200/1), Wearewereweare (300/1)

Verdict

There were positives to glean from ALQAMAR's hurdles debut at Carlisle where he chased home the promising Word Has It, form which both the winner and third have since boosted. That run will have blown away the cobwebs (first appearance for 27 months) and improvement should be forthcoming. The Caretaker also made an encouraging hurdles bow at Carlisle and is next best ahead of Flat winner Culture.
