Winner of first 2 completed starts over fences and didn't do much wrong when second in a 4-runner handicap off this mark at Kelso (17f, soft) last time. Big chance if coping with this faster ground.

Did well over hurdles last season, winning twice at up to 2½m. Has failed to make an impact in 3 starts since switched to fences (all at around 2m), but may do better now going back up in trip.

Dual hurdles winner for Colin Tizzard and positive chase debut for new yard when second at Sandown (15.5f, soft) last month. However, pulled up over same C&D next time and needs to bounce back.

Rather inconsistent over hurdles and has looked anything but a natural in his 2 starts in this sphere to date.

Clearly retains plenty of ability judged on his 4 runs over fences for new yard since returning from a lengthy absence in November. Now tried in cheekpieces and he has to be feared.

Capable when on-song, but well below par in 5 appearances so far this season and he's not the most fluent of jumpers.

Forecasts

Eclair D'Ainay (5/4), Notre Pari (11/4), Oski (7/2), Captain Moirette (12/1), Myplaceatmidnight (14/1), Beaufort West (28/1)

Verdict

ECLAIR D'AINAY can provide Harry Skelton with another valuable winner in his quest to land a first jockeys' title. The 7-y-o is unproven on ground this fast, but he has plenty going for him otherwise. Oski isn't the most reliable on the whole, but a reproduction of his latest effort at Hereford would give him a fighting chance and Notre Pari isn't one to give up on just yet.
