Quinnbet Quarterback Handicap Chase

Off time: 15:10 | Winning time: 6m 8.50s

Rock On Fruity²³

Age: 12| Weight: 12-0| J: R P McLernon| T: B Haslam| OR: 131| CD

15/8

Veteran hurdler/chaser who's won twice over hurdles at Kelso. Good fourth off this mark back chasing at Sedgefield (26.3f, soft) last time and he's of strong interest here.

Knockoura^t⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 11-9| J: Ross Chapman| T: M A Barnes| OR: 126

3/1

Won handicap chases at Ayr and Bangor last term and encouraging start to this seaosn when third over 2½m here in December. Not so good next time, though, and he looks vulnerable.

Form: 211P-35

Ascot De Bruyere^b³¹

Age: 11| Weight: 11-8| J: B S Hughes| T: J Ewart| OR: 125| CD

2/1

Enhanced good record (4-time course winner) at this track when readily making all over 2½m here in November. Poor effort back here last month, but will be dangerous if allowed a soft lead.

Form: 64B3-1P

Buck Dancing^t⁵⁶

Age: 12| Weight: 11-0| J: Miss J I Bedi⁽⁷⁾| T: J Bedi| OR: 117

13/2

Fine second in 3¼m handicap chase at Uttoxeter on sole start for David Thompson last summer. Claims if reproducing that form, but well held back from a break for new yard in a jumpers bumper here.

Form: 1552-28

Forecasts

Rock On Fruity (15/8), Ascot De Bruyere (2/1), Knockoura (3/1), Buck Dancing (13/2)

Preference is for ROCK ON FRUITY, who showed enough back in this sphere at Sedgefield to suggest that a race of this nature should be within his grasp. Ascot de Bruyere completely misfired last time, but he boasts a good record here and will be a live danger, particularly if he isn't hassled up front by Knockoura.
