Enhanced excellent record at Wincanton when winning there (2½m) in January. Excuses and probably worth forgiving both subsequent runs. Career best needed but not ruled out under top weight.

Winner of 4 of his 5 starts since wind surgery, producing a career-best when landing 13-runner handicap chase at Wincanton (25.1f, good) back in November. Up a further 6 lb and rates a major player.

Useful chaser who was not at his best in a handful of appearances last season and turned in a couple of dismal showings this term before winning a jumpers bumper last month. Hard to weigh up.

Expensive to follow but bounced back from a limp effort to open his account in handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f, heavy) last month, making all and in command between last 2. Interesting player.

Verdict

A small but select field for this feature contest with EL PRESENTE fancied to continue his winning sequence and take his record to 5-6 since undergoing wind surgery. He's had a decent break since landing his biggest prize yet and can defy a further rise in the weights. Checkitout and Capeland will provide some stern opposition however, and can chase Kim Bailey's charge home in that order.

  1. EL PRESENTE
  2. CHECKITOUT (IRE)
  3. CAPELAND (FR)
