£110,000 buy after winning Irish point on debut in April 2019. Left his hurdling debut well behind to get off the mark in a first-time tongue tie at Wincanton, forging clear late. Sure to do better.

11/2
Bumper winner who opened hurdles account after a wind op in Sedgefield novice in September. Back to winning ways in Kempton jumpers bumper last month but below-par effort back over timber since.

No impact in a couple of bumpers and similar story when switched to chasing after 10 months off at Exeter in December. Makes no appeal on hurdles bow.

Has improved in each run, including when second of 12 in novice hurdle at Exeter (23.1f, good to soft) 16 days ago. May be one for further down the line but is heading in the right direction.

4/1
Fairly useful bumper winner who has matched that form over hurdles when runner-up in 2m3f novices at Warwick/Doncaster. Ran poorly on handicap debut at Kempton in January but is worth another chance.

Big price and no impact in pair of novice hurdles. Set for another struggle here.

Forecasts

Broken Halo (8/11), Major Dundee (4/1), Johnny B (5/1), Young Lieutenant (11/2), Valentino (250/1), Botus Fleming (250/1)

Verdict

A potential match on paper between MAJOR DUNDEE and Broken Halo, with preference for the former to build on his previous promise having disappointed on handicap debut at Kempton last month. Paul Nicholls' charge looked a totally different horse when scoring in a first-time tongue strap earlier this month so rates as the obvious danger, ahead of the improving Johnny B.

  1. MAJOR DUNDEE (IRE)
  2. BROKEN HALO
  3. JOHNNY B (IRE)
