Armand De Brignac¹³⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Fergus Gregory⁽³⁾| T: O Murphy

7/1

Expensive son of Fame And Glory who was poorly positioned when only fifth at Sandown 135 days but is almost certain to benefit from the experience. Open to improvement.

Form: 5

Champ Is Real¹¹⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: S Bowen| T: L Morgan

9/1

€52,000 3-y-o, Kayf Tara gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam, little impact in bumpers/over hurdles. Maiden Irish pointer, runner-up last time (Nov 29). Not ruled out.

Form: P-632

Friends Don't Tell

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Ryan Mania| T: C Ellam

150/1

Mount Nelson gelding. Dam 1m-1¾m winner. Hard to make a case for.

Form:

Harper's Brook¹⁰⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: D A Jacob| T: B Pauling

3/1

€22,000 3-y-o, £70,000 4-y-o, Ask gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Wetlands. won sole start in points (Dec 6), do he is of obvious interest on debut.

Form: 1

Hillcrest⁷¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: B S Hughes| T: H D Daly

5/4

Cost €190,000 as a 3yo and demonstrated a good deal of ability when runner-up at Doncaster first time out. That race has already thrown up a few winners, so he's up to going one better.

Form: 2

Howyouplaythegame²⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Alan Johns| T: S Allwood

50/1

Cheap purchase who shaped as if amiss (reported to have lost action) at Chepstow on debut. May do better in time.

Form: 4

Mister Freddie

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Micky Hammond

15/2

£30,000 3-y-o, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Brother to bumper winner Belle Amis. Dam (h141) bumper/2m hurdle winner. Bred to do well in this sphere, so worth noting if betting speaks in his favour.

Form:

Phil De Pail²⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-7| J: Henry Brooke| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero

40/1

Has hinted at ability on both outings to date without doing enough to think he can make a serious impact in this.

Form: 36

Forecasts

Hillcrest (5/4), Harper's Brook (3/1), Armand De Brignac (7/1), Mister Freddie (15/2), Champ Is Real (9/1), Aviewtosea (12/1), Phil De Pail (40/1), Howyouplaythegame (50/1), Friends Don't Tell (150/1)

The race that HILLCREST finished runner-up in on debut is proving strong, so this well-related 6yo should have enough to open his account at the second attempt unless point-recruit Harper's Brook proves to be well above average. Armand de Brignac should step up on his mildly encouraging debut, so he's not without a chance.
