Mount Ida^t⁵⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: Jack Kennedy| T: Mrs D Foster| OR: 142

3/1

Bumper/hurdles winner who proved strong at the finish when landing Grade 3 mares' chase at Cork (16.7f) in December. No match for Colreevy since but switch to handicaps/longer trip both positives now.

Form: 230-312

Storm Control^p,t⁶¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-9| J: R Patrick| T: Kerry Lee| OR: 142| CD

16/1

Has looked better than ever this season, making it 2-2 around here despite idling in C&D Grade 3 handicap in December. Possibly not 100% at Warwick in January and better showing not ruled out.

Form: 3-7311P

Go Another One^t¹⁴⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 11-9| J: Simon Torrens⁽³⁾| T: J C McConnell| OR: 142

16/1

Versatile sort who added pair of minor hurdle contests to his tally (at around 3m) last summer. Exploits were mixed thereafter and his jumping failed to pass muster in this race last season.

Form: F-11433

Deise Aba^p⁴⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 11-9| J: R Johnson| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR: 142

12/1

Pulled up first 2 starts this season but back to very best to land Masters Handicap for second successive year at Sandown (3m) last time. Good fifth from same mark in this 12 months ago. Respected.

Form: 115-PP1

Shantou Flyer^b,t²⁶

Age: 11| Weight: 11-7| J: Harry Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 140| BF| C| D

11/2

Useful chaser who boasts a solid record at the Festival, again placed in the Foxhunters 12 months ago. Good efforts in defeat at Wincanton in recent weeks and good showing not ruled out.

Form: 2/113-42

Hold The Note^v²⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-7| J: J J Burke| T: M R Channon| OR: 140

9/1

Still winless in this sphere but ran a solid race when third in novices' handicap chase at this meeting 12 months ago. Mixed bag this term but latest Newbury second was a solid display. Possibilities.

Form: 3-44352

Crievehill⁵⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 11-7| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 140| D

33/1

Kicked off last term with victories at Wetherby/Haydock but he's failed to make an impact in handful of starts so far this campaign. Mark continues to ease and he was fourth in this race 2 years ago.

Form: 99-8064

Cloudy Glen²⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 11-7| J: R T Dunne| T: Miss V Williams| OR: 140

33/1

Improved when landing Southern National at Fontwell on reappearance but efforts have been typically mixed since, unseating having jumped left at Ascot (23.8f) latest. Still, not entirely ruled out.

Form: F6-150U

Another Venture^v⁵⁶

Age: 10| Weight: 11-6| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR: 139| D

66/1

Looked as good as ever when resuming winning ways on return at Ludlow (23.8f) in December. Fell tenth in Somerset National (26.7f) in January and majority of his victories have come in small fields.

Form: 4/263-1F

Plan Of Attack^b1⁸¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-5| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: H De Bromhead| OR: 138

7/1

Enjoyed productive 2019/20 campaign winning twice and run right up to best when fourth in this race 12 months ago. Not at best this term but arrives here fresh and on a competitive mark. Blinkered.

Form: 134-PP8

Cobolobo^p,t²⁶

Age: 9| Weight: 11-5| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 138| D

33/1

Improved performer this season, career-best display when making all at Exeter (3m) in December. Better than distance beaten suggests at Ascot (23.8f) recently but this is demanding.

Form: 5P-2125

Milanford⁶⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 11-5| J: D A Jacob| T: Nick Mitchell| OR: 138| BF

20/1

Point winner who has displayed useful form in finishing runner-up all 3 starts in small field maiden/Grade 2 chase contests this winter. Switch to handicaps rates a plus and he remains unexposed.

Form: P21-222

Almazhar Garde¹¹⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: G Sheehan| T: C E Longsdon| OR: 135

80/1

Won two small-field chase contests as a novice and built on return effort to score under a positive ride at Kelso (21.6f) in November. Pulled up at Newbury later that month and absent since.

Form: F15-51P

Bob Mahler^b⁴⁰

Age: 9| Weight: 11-2| J: Harry Bannister| T: W Greatrex| OR: 135| C

25/1

Gallant effort when third in this race last year but not hit same heights so far this season, plodding on to finish third in Edinburgh National latest. Handicapper has relinquished his grip at least

Form: 13-PPP3

Kilfilum Cross^p⁹²

Age: 10| Weight: 11-2| J: Alex Edwards⁽³⁾| T: Henry Oliver| OR: 135

20/1

Useful sort who found only one too good in this race for second successive year 12 months ago. Arrives on the back of a string of underwhelming efforts this time around but mark reflects that.

Form: 22-4P7P

Musical Slave²⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 11-2| J: T J O'Brien| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR: 135

18/1

Progressive hurdler who did well in novice season over fences last year. Jumping has held him back to a large extent this time around but there's undoubtedly an air of unfinished business about him.

Form: 132-5U3

Didero Vallis³⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 11-1| J: Charlie Deutsch| T: Miss V Williams| OR: 134

33/1

Capable sort who left Warwick disappointment in his wake when winning with something to spare at Catterick (25f) in February. However, that wasn't a deep contest and this a much sterner assignment.

Form: 52-68P1

Morning Vicar¹⁰⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-1| J: N de Boinville| T: N J Henderson| OR: 134

16/1

Progressive sort who confirmed reappearance promise at Uttoxeter when making all at Newbury (19.8f) in November. Disappointed at Sandown (20f) thereafter but not one to write off arriving here fresh.

Form: 7/2F-217

Sizing At Midnight²⁶

Age: 9| Weight: 11-0| J: R M Power| T: C L Tizzard| OR: 133| D

33/1

Excellent start to the campaign, winning handicap chase contests at Newton Abbot/Ffos Las. Shaped as if still in form thereafter last year but his Wincanton effort in February was a poor one.

Form: 5-112FP

Townshend^p1,t⁵⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 10-13| J: Mr Jamie Neild⁽¹⁰⁾| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 132

100/1

Useful chaser for Willie Mullins who ran best race of present campaign when fifth of 11 in an Ascot handicap (23.8f) in November. However, he's not matched that either start since.

Forecasts

Mount Ida (3/1), Shantou Flyer (11/2), Plan Of Attack (7/1), Hold The Note (9/1), Deise Aba (12/1), Storm Control (16/1), Go Another One (16/1), Morning Vicar (16/1), Double Shuffle (16/1), Musical Slave (18/1), Kilfilum Cross (20/1), Milanford (20/1), Bob Mahler (25/1), Late Romantic (25/1), Cloudy Glen (33/1), Crievehill (33/1), Sizing At Midnight (33/1), Young Dev (33/1), Didero Vallis (33/1), Cobolobo (33/1), Another Venture (66/1), Almazhar Garde (80/1), Beau Bay (80/1), Townshend (100/1)

A wide-open affair with the vote in favour of MOUNT IDA. A Grade 3 winner over an extended 2m at Cork, she lost little caste in defeat behind Colreevy in a Grade 2 thereafter and this longer trip may unlock improvement now handicapping. Deise Aba also arrives in good form and is feared along with Hold The Note, Plan of Attack and Morning Vicar.
