Fair hurdler who raced lazily when runner-up on return at Kelso last month. Couple of backward steps since so a bounce back is called for.

Fairly useful on the Flat and ran out an easy winner on handicap hurdle debut at Chepstow in November. Also a good second at Warwick in December and 3m on heavy stretched him last time.

Runner-up off 4 lb higher at Wetherby last winter but he hasn't come close to reproducing that since, held in dispute of sixth when brought down 2 out back at Wetherby on Boxing Day. Hood refitted.

Has shown ability in bumpers/novice hurdles and rates a potential improver in handicaps after wind surgery. Needs keeping an eye on in the betting.

Produced his best effort to date when third at Uttoxeter in July but pulled up on both starts since. Can only be watched after those 2 efforts.

Much improved when landing a gamble at Musselburgh (2½m, soft) in January. 6 lb rise looks manageable with this stiffer track promising to suit him even better.

Modest form at best to date, although he was entitled to have needed the run after 14 months off when well held on 17f Carlisle handicap debut 3 weeks ago. This should reveal more.

Minor promise in a bumper/hurdles but appeals as the sort who could come into his own now handicapping. Check betting.

Well held in his qualifying runs around 2m but no surprise were he to prove a different proposition now handicapping after a break (has had wind op). All the more interesting if backed.

Cheekpieces on first time (retained), best run over hurdles when fourth of 12 in 21f Sedgefield handicap in November but she will need to step up a little on that if she's to come out on top here.

Little impact on the Flat/over hurdles but the booking of Brian Hughes takes the eye for this handicap debut. Needs a betting check.

Best run over hurdles when fifth in 17f Sedgefield novice last month, keeping on after getting outpaced. This longer trip ought to be in her favour now handicapping.

Point/bumper winner who couldn't land a hefty gamble in 2¾m Musselburgh handicap on last month's return from an absence, but he did move well for a long way and this shorter trip looks ideal. Player.

Lightly raced 7-y-o who found some improvement when third in a Uttoxeter handicap around this trip in November but has struggled on both runs since. Others more obvious.

Showed some promise in sole bumper but just poor form over hurdles, including well-beaten sixth on 2m Doncaster handicap debut in January. Needs to improve for longer trip/first-time cheekpieces.

Verdict

BROADWAY JOE has the potential for better again now he's found his feet and is selected to make light of a 6 lb rise for Musselburgh. It'll be very interesting whether there's money for Gallahers Cross again as this return to a slightly shorter trip should suit based on how he shaped as Musselburgh. Nyoufsea and Murvagh Beach are potential improvers now handicapping after wind surgery.
