Fairly useful bumper winner who made it 2-2 over hurdles when comfortably landing the odds in novice at Ayr (19.5f, heavy) in November. Back from a break now, but sets a high standard.

Point winner. 13/2, debut winner of 8-runner novice hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) 56 days ago. Sure to build on that, so another bold showing is on the cards.

£34,000 3-y-o, £1,800 5-y-o, Irish Wells gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including French 17f-21f hurdle/chaser Siam de La Roque. Appeals on paper but yard not noted for its debut winners.

16/1, seventh of 8 in bumper at Ayr (16f, heavy) on NH debut 78 days ago. Lot more needed on hurdles debut but yard took this contest 12 months ago so no forlorn hope.

Timeform
Well-bred son of Oscar but not seen out since runner-up in point in early 2019. Wears hood for hurdles bow and market should prove a good indicator.
|
Timeform
Promising fifth of 18 in novice hurdle (10/1) at Exeter (16.8f, heavy) on hurdles bow 28 days ago. Fair winning bumper too so he needs considering for good yard.

Tongue strap on when only eleventh of 14 in bumper (150/1) at Catterick (15.7f, good to soft) 88 days ago. Lots to find on hurdles debut.

Well held in two bumpers before falling halfway in novice hurdle (150/1) at Ludlow (15.8f, heavy) on hurdles bow 26 days ago. Needs to step forward now.

Forecasts

Castle Rushen (4/5), Pay The Piper (15/8), Taste The Fear (7/1), On The Bandwagon (8/1), One Fer Mamma (12/1), Flexi Furlough (20/1), Lime Drop (80/1), Whitechurch (100/1), Fudgeman (150/1), Zip Pearl (150/1), Epson Roque (200/1), West End Woody (200/1)

Verdict

CASTLE RUSHEN has been off the track since November and concedes weight all round but is still hard to oppose in his bid to maintain an unbeaten record over hurdles after two comfortable victories at Ayr. Taste The Fear has something to find on form but was a fair bumper winner so is expected to build on his promising hurdling-debut fifth. Sedgefield scorer Pay The Piper has solid place claims.
