Half-brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Sonofagun and bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Bentham. Dropped away quickly in heavy-ground Ayr bumper last month and now tried in a tongue strap.

Runner-up sole start in Irish points in October and sales price rose to £40,000. Starts out in bumpers for red-hot yard and he needs close attention in the betting.

Debut in 16.2f Newcastle bumper in November wasn't completely devoid of promise, but he'll need to take a sizeable step forward in order to play a leading role here.

Placed once from 3 starts in Irish points and showed ability when third on C&D debut last month (Keep Coming a neck adrift in fourth). Still, he's likely to need more time and distance.

€800 3-y-o. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdler West To The Bridge stays 23f, and bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Yes No Maybe So. Unlikely first-time-out winner.

€45,000 3-y-o. Brother to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Invitation Only. Dam 15f hurdle winner in France. Yard's strike rate in bumpers is rather modest, but worth a second look in the betting.

Winged Love gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Paddy Buns. Placed both starts between the flags, but this 6-y-o is another who may need more time and distance. Wears hood/tongue strap.

Merely hinted at ability on C&D debut and others make more appeal.

Ready debut winner at Huntingdon and lost no caste in defeat when chasing home an Alan King-trained newcomer under a penalty at Doncaster next time. The one to beat.

Forecasts

Supreme Yeats (15/8), Arthur's Seat (2/1), Home Fire (4/1), Fruit N Nut (9/2), Keep Coming (10/1), South Mountain (10/1), Upandatit (11/1), Moonlight Beam (14/1), Songofthelark (14/1), Jerejak (16/1), Jante Law (25/1), Shoeshine Boy (28/1), Annies Regatta (80/1), Coopers Boy (200/1)

Verdict

Newcomer HOME FIRE will need to be pretty decent if he's to lower the colours of Arthur's Seat, but both his pedigree and the yard's record in bumpers offer plenty of hope that he'll be equal to the task. Arthur's Seat has already shown plenty of ability and, armed with a handy weight-for-age allowance, he won't go down without a fight. Fruit N Nut and Supreme Yeats are others to consider.

  1. HOME FIRE
  2. ARTHUR'S SEAT (IRE)
  3. FRUIT N NUT (IRE)
